چکیده

Abstract Partially hydrogenated fatty acid methyl ester (H-FAME) is conventionally produced through partial hydrogenation under high pressure and elevated temperature in the presence of a catalyst. Herein, novel green, catalyst-free, non-thermal atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma was employed instead conventional method to hydrogenate palm FAME. H-FAME became more saturated with conversion C18:2 C18:3 47.4 100%, respectively, at 100 W input power, 1 mm gas-filled gap size 80% H 2 mixed gas room for 5 h, causing reduction iodine value from 50.2 43.5. Oxidation stability increased 12.8 20 h while cloud point changed 13.5 16 °C. Interestingly, DBD resulted no trans -fatty formation which provided positive effect on point. This green system showed superior performance catalytic reaction. It an alternative that safe explosion due mild operating condition, as well being highly environmentally friendly by reducing waste energy utilization regeneration process required process. technique could also be applied other liquid-based processes.

Low temperature atmospheric plasma for microbial decontamination

Low temperature Plasma (LTP) is a high-energy gas that is created when an electrical current is passed through a gas. Until recently, plasmas could only be created at relatively high temperatures in a vacuum and the use of plasma on sensitive materials such as human tissue, food products, medical devices and the packaging industry, was therefore impractical. However, over the last few years tec...

Plasma-Assisted Reduction of Graphene Oxide at Low Temperature and Atmospheric Pressure for Flexible Conductor Applications.

Reduction of graphene oxide (GO) at low temperature and atmospheric pressure via plasma-assisted chemistry is demonstrated. Hydrogen gas is continuously dissociated in a microplasma to generate atomic hydrogen, which flows from the remote plasma to thin films of GO deposited on a substrate. Direct interaction with ions and other energetic species is avoided to mitigate ion-induced sputter remov...

Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of zinc oxide at atmospheric pressure and low temperature

The plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of aluminum-doped zinc oxide has been demonstrated for the first time at 800Torr and under 250 1C. A film resistivity of 3 10 2 O cm and a transparency of 95% from 375 to 2500 nm was obtained for deposition at 20mTorr diethylzinc, 1.0 Torr CO2, 799Torr He, a TMAl/DEZn ratio of 1:100, 41W=cm RF power, and 225 1C. The average aluminum concentration in...

Turbulent jet flow generated downstream of a low temperature dielectric barrier atmospheric pressure plasma device

Flowing low temperature atmospheric pressure plasma devices have been used in many technological applications ranging from energy efficient combustion through to wound healing and cancer therapy. The generation of the plasma causes a sudden onset of turbulence in the inhomogeneous axisymmetric jet flow downstream of the plasma plume. The mean turbulent velocity fields are shown to be self-simil...
